PHONE TIPS
  • Always address the coach properly (by last name)
  • Be prepared with a list of questions – getting a coach on the phone is very crucial and a great time to ask some important items
    • How many student-athletes are you looking for in my graduation year?
    • What are you looking for in student-athletes?
    • Do you like your recruits to play in specific tournaments?
    • Do you have any time to watch me at an event in the next few weeks?
    • Etc….
  • Always thank the coach for their time – even if you only get them for a few minutes – they are bombarded every day with recruits vying for their attention!
  • Be aware that they will most likely have some questions for you too! Answer honestly!

TEXT (OR DM) TIPS

  • Always address the Coach by name, never start an email with “Coach” only
    • Ex. Coach Smith or Coach Dice
  • Be specific about who you are and where you attend school, graduation years are crucial to college coaches so you need to include this information
  • Be specific about why you are contacting this coach – coaches get hundreds of messages a day and yours needs to stick out!
  • Try to keep the messages short and to the point
    • If you need to send something longer or with more detail, we would suggest writing an email or state that you have also sent the coach an email
